Week of September 6th
This week the Tennessee Republican Party puts the spotlight on State Senate District 27 candidate Don McLeary

Issues are important and the next State Senator must place his focus on creating the right environment for job growth. I want and need your assistance and I will work to earn your vote. I have proven that I will stand up for my principles... because now is not the time to play politics! - Don McLeary

WHO IS DON MCLEARY?
Don McLeary is a native of West Tennessee, a graduate of North Side High School and graduate of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where he played the position of tailback on the 1967 National Championship team. Don later went on to a long football coaching career that ended at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He then relocated back to Jackson, Tennessee, where he has lived for the past 12 years. Don is a former member of the Tennessee State Senate and has a background in the financial services industry. Presently, he devotes his time to the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church. In his spare time, he volunteers as a football coach at South Gibson County High School.

Don is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with his wife of 42 years, Mary. Together they've raised three children and are now the proud grandparents of six grandchildren.

WHERE & WHY IS DON RUNNING?
Don is running for State Senator in West Tennessee's District 27 which encompasses all of Gibson, Carroll, and Madison Counties. He is running against, and determined to beat, Democrat incumbent State Senator Lowe Finney. Liberal Lowe Finney supports bringing the job-killing agenda of Barack Obama to West Tennessee, which will mean fewer jobs, higher unemployment and more governmental intrusion into the lives of West Tennessee families. Don wants to bring a more conservative voice to the 27th District and promote policies that are going to improve the local economy and spur job growth in an area facing an average unemployment rate of 12.7 percent.

During his previous service as a State Senator, Don put principles over politics when he refused to vote to certify an election which included ballots of the deceased and those who didn't live in Senator Ophelia Ford's district. Despite pressure from the former Democratic leadership of the State Senate, Don didn't back down – he stood on the side of the law and the Constitution. McLeary stayed true to his principles and kept his campaign promises of protecting the integrity of our state.

WHAT WILL DON DO FOR YOU IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE?
Don McLeary believes that issues are important and if elected will focus on creating jobs, cutting wasteful government spending, lowering taxes, fighting illegal immigration, improving our education system, and making our state a safer place for Tennessee families. He believes that the People don't want to be told by government what's best for them, but that everyone should participate in the policy-making process. As your State Senator, Don McLeary will be part of the solution, not the problem. McLeary will stand up to the big-government, big-spending policies being thrust upon our state by Washington liberals like President Barack Obama and Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Don McLeary is a proven leader who will work to help Tennessee families and small businesses flourish. He believes that change begins on the local level and he would be honored if District 27 voters would allow him to be their voice in the Tennessee State Senate.
