Nashville, Tenn. – August 13, 2017 – Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden released the following statement regarding the violence in Charlottesville: “The Tennessee Republican Party does not stand for, or tolerate, the hate and violence we saw in Charlottesville this weekend. There is no place for racism or bigotry in our party, which fights for freedom, liberty, and opportunity for all Americans. We pray for all the lives lost and are grateful for the protection provided by first responders.”

Violence can never be tolerated in a civil society. The Tennessee Democratic Party and the Tennessee Republican Party condemn this and any act of violence for any motivation. We are thankful for the courage of the Capitol Police, whose presence and quick actions saved countless lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with Congressman Scalise, the other victims and their families.”
