TRP Weekly Report - 11/16/07
In TN Senate District 10, Republican candidate Oscar Brock ran a very uphill race, but did so with a lot of hard work and class. In the district hand-drawn by former legislator, Ward Crutchfield, D-Chattanooga, this race was always a long-shot. Oscar Brock, TRP State Executive Committee Member, had a great campaign team: Clint Hall, Campaign Manager and Marty Fairbanks, Volunteer and Events Coordinator. My sincerest thanks to all who worked, voted, gave money, prayed, waved signs at street corners, addressed postcards, sent emails, on and on. TRP State Director Randy Stamps was on the ground during the last three weeks of the campaign and did a fabulous job.

This race stands as a testimonial as to the reason Republicans must be holding the pen in 2010 in preparation for redistricting. We must continue to diligently work toward building a majority.
DEMOCRATS MISSING DEADLINE, CAUSE CITIZENS TO LOSE THEIR OWN MONEY

The AMT was established in the 1960s to ensure the nation’s wealthiest earners paid an income tax. Because the thresholds of the tax were not indexed to inflation, more taxpayers — including 20 million American middle-income earners — risk paying the tax–the tax intended only for the “rich.”
Add to this refusal of Democrats to change the law to reflect the income divisions of 2007 versus the 1960s, a looming deadline that, if missed today due to the desire for Democrats to tax us more, the tax refunds for next year will be delayed. Congress is less than 24 hours away from missing a key deadline that will lead to massive delays in tax refunds for tens of millions of Americans next year.
Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson has warned Congress that if middle-class taxpayers weren’t protected from the AMT by, November 16, 2007, Internal Revenue Service tax forms would be printed under the assumption that some 21 million additional taxpayers would be forced to pay the tax. By simply missing this deadline, 50 million taxpayers will see a significant delay in the arrival of some $75 billion in refund checks next year, according to Secretary Paulson.
The Republican candidates who run for President, U.S. Senator, U.S. Congressman, Tennessee Senator or Representative, must receive our support to put leadership in place that understands: THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO WEALTH…ONLY OURS! We are taxed enough.
