The Tennessee Republican Party today praised the swift action of the Federal Reserve in slashing interest rates today in the face of growing economic uncertainty and called on Democrats to support President Bush’s call for additional tax reductions to continue the long-running economic boom.

“Democrats like Barack Obama are proposing that the federal government ‘give’ money to taxpayers to stimulate the economy, but it really makes no sense to tax people and then give it back to them – or charge it to future generations,” said Bill Hobbs, communications director for the Tennessee Republican Party. “Instead of taking money from taxpayers to give to taxpayers, Congress should just let people keep more of their own money - and cut spending so the tax reductions do not add to the deficit.”
