WOMEN…WE SALUTE YOU!
Whether she’s “Mom”, “Honey”, “Sis”, “Grandma”, “Doctor”, “Congressman”, “Aunt”, or any other endearing or professional title, a woman and her many roles have changed; changed in a way that has extended responsibility and prominence, rather than an exchange of roles.
March is Women’s History Month. There is not enough space or time to salute to the countless achievements of women: raising our children; starting and running a company; leading as an activist for a political or charitable cause; serving our nation to defend our freedoms; teaching the children of others to plant seeds of hope in their lives; discovering life-saving molecules in the laboratories…the list is truly too expansive to print.
Ladies, young, seasoned and all in between, you are saluted and treasured. Solomon wrote of a “virtuous wife” almost 3000 years ago to reflect a very industrious, profitable, loving and reverent woman. Women of 2008 serve our Party, our nation, our communities and our families in these “virtuous” ways.
The Republican Party has proven by actions, rather than promises, its commitment to equal opportunity in leadership, in supporting woman owned-businesses and job creation, a commitment to health care that honors the personal choice of a woman’s health care provider and that of her children. The Republican Party represents women as the outstanding individuals pursuing excellence and opportunity rather than a voting bloc or a demographic group to patronize.
“Thank you!” seems inadequate, yet sincerely conveyed on behalf of the Tennessee Republican Party for the sacrifices, the love, the vision and leadership (behind the scenes and in front) that is the foundation of our party, our state, and our nation.

NEW FEATURE…MCCAIN’S MARCH TO THE WHITE HOUSE
Each week, the Tennessee Republican Party will feature one issue or policy from our Republican Presidential nominee, John McCain.
This week, an article in Fortune Magazine highlighted the McCain policy on health care reform. Polling shows this issue to range between first to third in importance to all voters, Democrat, Independent and Republican. Fortune Magazine declares, from a third party perspective, that John McCain’s proposals on health care offers the “best” pathway to address costs, accessibility and personal ownership and choice in sharp contrast to the government mandates and garnishing of wages promoted by Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
WORKING TO KEEP THE WHITE HOUSE
President George W. Bush and RNC Chairman Mike Duncan joined Senator Bill and Karyn Frist to raise funding in Tennessee to win the race in November. The Tennessee Republican Party is a very active and important part of this critical election. Join the many others who have already made an investment in the Tennessee Republican Party to put John McCain in the White House who will reduce our tax burden, reform the bloated federal spending for waste and pork and honor the men and women of our military with support and decisive strategy and implementation.

PRIORITY EDUCATION OR BUREAUCRACY?
This legislative session in Nashville has education as a “priority” of members of the General Assembly and the Governor. However, the differences are becoming very apparent in how Democrats and Republicans view the solution to providing a better education for our children.
Democrat Governor Phil Bredesen and Democrats in the legislature want to expand the already $80 million spent for Pre-K classrooms for 4-year olds to in excess of $100 million. Republicans want to keep the $80 million in funding in Pre-K while not extracting the $25 million from K-12 funding. Republicans are also committed to other opportunities in the classrooms. Whether a parent chooses to home school their children, work for a charter school, send them to a private school or a public school, Republicans in this legislative session are the ones voting for parental rights and decisions.
A statewide poll indicates that only 15% of 1200 individuals want their children to attend a public school despite the almost $8000 spent per pupil in public schools ( http://tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=656 ). While the state revenues are low, the Democrats are calling for cuts in funding to services while expanding an already funded program that runs contrary to how Tennesseans want to see their children educated in our state.
TAX INCREASE!!! DEMOCRATS’ PROPOSAL TO ADDRESS THE ECONOMY
Tenneseans need to act immediately and contact your U.S. Congressman. Democrats in the U.S. House (Rep. Lincoln Davis, Rep. Steve Cohen, Rep. John Tanner, Rep. Bart Gordon, Rep. Jim Cooper) are supporting a budget for next year that would level an averge tax increase PER HOUSEHOLD of $3135 annually or $31,348 over ten years!

These men stand in our state and slap backs and speak the language of Tennessee values then go to Washington, D.C. and vote as liberal/progressive/DailyKos/MoveOn.org Democrats to increase our taxes, increase spending on entitlements and pork and threaten the funding for our soldiers.
WAKE UP! Raising Taxes and growing the size of the federal budget, will only take more money from Americans at a time when rising prices are pinching family budgets. Take a look at the chart below to see how much money the Democrats plan to take out of the American family budget over the next decade.
