WHY IT IS TIME FOR A CHANGE IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE

Space does not permit us to completely cover the many examples of raw political maneuvering and heavy-handed tactics that are employed by Tennessee Democrats in the Legislature. This week, Speaker Jimmy Naifeh, demonstrated that there is neither respect for the parliamentary procedures nor the true representation of the voice of the people in dealing with issues he wants to kill.

On Wednesday, Naifeh, who receives the first vote cast by every single House Democrat upon the opening of session to hold the position of Speaker, had a new member of the Democrat Caucus sworn into a committee position, joining her to kill legislation that would protect gun owners in Tennessee. This is the second time within a matter of a few weeks that Jimmy Naifeh has exploited his ability to attend and vote on any committee in the House, to lead the Democrats in killing legislation that promotes the 2nd Amendment Rights of Tennesseans.

THE DREAM LIVES

April 4th marks the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in Memphis. Raised in a Republican family and standing on Republican principles, Dr. King spoke of liberty, equal opportunity and justice for all. His Dream that a man will be judged by the content of his character rather than the content of his skin is a driving force in the Republican Party. The principles, convictions and values that are shared by Republicans can’t simply be segmented into the politics of identity that serves as the foundation and operating policy of the Democrats.

The Party of Lincoln is growing not because of pandering but because of our principles.

MCCAIN’S MARCH TO THE WHITE HOUSE

Surprise!!! Democrats are twisting a statement made by John McCain to redefine his stance on the Global War on Terror, specifically the war being fought in Iraq.

McCain, at a townhall meeting in New Hampshire in January, was asked about President Bush’s comment that we could stay in Iraq for 50 years. McCain replied, “Make it 100. We’ve been in South Korea…we’ve been in Japan for 60 years. We’ve been in South Korea for 50 years or so. That would be fine with me. As long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed, that’s fine with me. I hope that would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al-Qaeda is training, recruiting and equipping and motivating people every single day.”

The Democrats, who change their policy on the Global War on Terror like teenagers change clothes, want to define the war in Iraq as a failure to serve their purpose of deflection and distraction from their abysmally weak stance on national security and their penchant for appeasement of America’s most implacable enemies.

John McCain is committed to Victory…a statement that can never be made in honesty about either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.

Republican Senators in the state legislature kept the commitment to the voters on the Hope Scholarship Program that it remain a scholarship program and eligibility be expanded for non-traditional students (those students returning to finish their degree later in life) rather than lower the grade point average and turn it into a government entitlement program.

The excess lottery funds have been a topic of discussion with various plans proposed. Republican plans would maintain the original scope of the lottery law as voted on by Tennesseans that reward students who earn the college scholarships on academic merit; Tennessee Democrats oppose maintaining the program in the form it was approved by voters.

On separate legislative action, Tennessee Democrats killed a bill in committee this week that would address the deficiencies that currently exist in our state’s DUI laws, preventing Tennessee from receiving $15 million. By strengthening the DUI laws in Tennessee, we would not only make our roads safer but also would receive more of the tax dollars sent from Tennessee to Washington, D.C. The Democrats’ actions on this issue are bad for the safety of Tennessee motorist, bad for Tennessee taxpayers, and bad for the future of our road infrastructure, which has received inadequate attention and funding from the Democrat administration.

Voters have an opportunity to see a “change” in how our state is governed….get involved and work for a state legislative candidate today! It truly does matter who governs!

THEY ARE CONSISTENT!!!

This week, the Tennessee Democrats, led by Jimmy Naifeh again killed 2nd Amendment legislation and protections for gun owners. Now, Barack Obama, Democrat front-runner for president, is right on script: “I am not in favor of concealed weapons,” Obama told the Pittsburgh Tribune. Just like the Democrats in Tennessee who conveniently talk about being for individual gun rights, then vote to the contrary, Barack Obama has made a 180 degree spin within weeks on his stance. During a February campaign stop, Barack Obama spoke of the perception of his gun stance: “There are people who say he doesn’t believe in the Second Amendment. We got a lot hunters in the state of Illinois and I have no intention of taking away folks’ guns.”

As Democrats consistently say one thing, and almost anything, to get elected, Tennessee voters need to examine, very carefully, the platitudes and promises that are being proclaimed by Democrats. The “progressive”/”liberal” Democrats have a very obvious goal: Government controlling almost everything in your life…even your right to bear arms.

Voters, stay focused on the true differences in values and beliefs that are surfacing. You’ll have to catch these differences since they aren’t likely to be reported.
