THERE’S NO DEBATE:

Belmont University Deserves Mountains of Praise and Thanks for a Job Well Done

NASHVILLE, TN - The Tennessee Republican Party today congratulates Belmont University on a job well done, and extends its gratitude to the university’s leadership, staff and students for their work in producing the history-making 2008 Town Hall Presidential Debate.

“Democracy requires participation, and benefits from passion and enthusiasm, and the passion and enthusiasm with which Belmont University participated in the 2008 campaign was evident in the Debate and all of the preparations for it and all of the related events,” said Robin Smith, Chairman of the Tennessee Republican Party. “As Tennesseans, as participants in politics, and as Americans, we could not be more proud of the job that Belmont did.

“Belmont’s tireless pursuit of being selected to host a debate, which began before the first shovel of dirt was moved to turn an old parking lot into the Curb Event Center where the Debate was held, even continuing after the university’s first bid was rejected in 2004, is an excellent example to anyone of the value of having big dreams and pursuing them with persistence,” Smith said. “Thank you, Belmont.”
