TNGOP Monthly Review
Dear Friends,
Campaign season is fully underway, and we couldn’t be more pleased about the position our candidates are in to secure victory in November. Just this week, Governor Mitt Romney secured enough delegates to clinch the Republican nomination for President. While his nomination will not be made official until the Republican National Convention in August, we look forward working with people across Tennessee to elect him President and end the dismal administration of Barack Obama.
On the state level, we have a solid group of Republican candidates who are already traveling across their districts, introducing themselves to voters. These candidates include small business owners, teachers, and veterans- folks with real world experience. Beginning this month, we’ll be featuring a candidate in our Candidate Spotlight section below.
On the Democrats’ side, it appears some tension has been created within their own Party after the Chairman of the Tennessee Democratic Party suggested they could lose 10 seats in the State House and 5 in the state senate. This caused the Democrat Leader in the State House, Craig Fitzhugh, to issue a statement saying, “…I part ways with him on the assessment of our current situation.” Our goal this year is to gain a walk-out-proof majority in the State House and State Senate, which is 2 seats in each. That said, it appears the Tennessee Democratic Party believes our Party will do much better. You can read more HERE.
As a reminder, don’t forget to text “TNGOP” to 66502 for the latest text message updates and alerts.
Thanks for all that you do, and I hope to see you soon!
Sincerely,
Chris Devaney
Chairman
Tennessee Republican Party
