Dr. Scott DesJarlais Gaining Momentum in Increasingly Vulnerable CD-4, GOP Nominee Receives Multiple Congressional Endorsements
Friday, September 3rd, 2010NASHVILLE, TN – Fourth Congressional district Republican nominee, Dr. Scott DesJarlais, is gaining momentum in his bid to unseat Democrat incumbent Rep. Lincoln Davis. Just this week he was endorsed by three members of the Tennessee Congressional delegation who believe he is the right candidate to represent the conservative values of the Fourth District. In addition, this district has caught national attention for its increasing vulnerability to flip Republican.
“We’ve always viewed this seat as in play for Republicans,” said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney. “This district was held by a Republican for eight years prior to Rep. Davis taking office and I believe voters in the Fourth are ready to elect a real conservative.”
At the beginning of each Congress, Representatives vote for Speaker of the U.S. House. At the beginning of the 108th, 109th, 110th, and 111th Congress, Rep. Lincoln Davis voted in favor of Nancy Pelosi. View his votes in favor of liberal Democrat Rep. Nancy Pelosi here, here, here, and here.
“Rep. Davis panders to voters by touting his ‘conservatism.’ He has squandered every opportunity to appoint more conservative leadership to the U.S. House. Instead, he has thrown his support for Speaker of the House behind liberal San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi every single time he was given the chance – effectively backing her radical left-wing agenda. Voters in the Fourth District want a conservative leader who will reject the costly job-killing policies of this Obama/Pelosi Washington. That leader is Dr. Scott DesJarlais and that’s why voters will be casting their ballot for him in November.”
This week, Republican Dr. DesJarlais was endorsed by U.S. Senator Bob Corker, Seventh District U.S. Representative Marsha Blackburn, and First District U.S. Representative Phil Roe. Read those endorsements here, here, and here.
Just last week, The Cook Political Report shifted Tennessee’s Fourth Congressional District from “Likely Democrat” to a more vulnerable “Lean Democrat.” See the Cook Political Report’s August update on Tennessee’s Congressional Districts here. In addition, CNN has been profiling the nation’s top 100 U.S. House races putting races in one of two categories based on vulnerability. This week CNN upgraded Tennessee’s Fourth Congressional District from one of “50 House Races to Watch” to their list of the “50 Most Vulnerable House Seats.” See CNN’s complete list here.
