Politico: GOP Going After Red-State Dems (9-30-09)

Republicans are seriously targeting a handful of veteran House Democrats from conservative-minded districts who haven’t drawn serious challengers in years.

The senior Democrats – Armed Services Committee Chairman Ike Skelton of Missouri, Science and Technology Committee Chairman Bart Gordon of Tennessee and Reps. John Tanner of Tennessee and Vic Snyder of Arkansas – all represent districts that John McCain comfortably carried in 2008, in states that also voted for the GOP presidential nominee over Barack Obama.

Devaney: “Rep. Gordon’s Latest Statements Are an Insult to His Constituents” (9-24-09)

NASHVILLE, TN – Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney today criticized Democrat Representative Bart Gordon for controversial comments he made regarding voters in his district.

“The citizens of Rep. Bart Gordon’s district have every right to be angry about his comments,” said Devaney. “His insinuation that 6th district constituents voted a certain way because of race or because they couldn’t comprehend an ‘urbane’ candidate is an insult to those he was elected to represent.”

TNGOP Commends U.S. House Members for Letter to Obama Regarding Acorn (9-16-09)

NASHVILLE, TN – Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Chris Devaney today commended Tennessee U.S. House Reps. Marsha Blackburn, John J. Duncan, Phil Roe and Zach Wamp for signing a letter from U.S. House Republicans to President Obama requesting he terminate all federal funding to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) and its affiliates.
