The Tennessee Republican Party made history this month. The filing deadline for candidates to appear on the August primary ballot came and went on April 1st and I’m thrilled to report we have more Republican candidates running across the state than ever before. Of the 99 State House Districts, Republicans are running in 84. Of the 17 State Senate Districts up for election this year, Republicans are running in 15. Our candidate recruitment efforts exceeded expectations and have primed Tennessee Republicans for victory in West, Middle, and East Tennessee.

NASHVILLE, TN – Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate Mike McWherter made headlines earlier this week when the Associated Press reported he was only able to raise $103,000 in the first quarter of the year. When asked about his lagging numbers, a McWherter campaign spokesman responded that McWherter hasn’t made fundraising a priority.
