McWherter Bombshell: Dem Gubernatorial Candidate Has No Intention of Fighting Obamacare If He Becomes Governor

MIKE MCWHERTER GETS BOOED AT FORUM AFTER REVEALING HIS STANCE ON WASHINGTON DEMOCRATS’ GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER OF HEALTH CARE

Democrat gubernatorial Mike McWherter dropped a bombshell at a forum last night when he announced he has no intention of fighting the new federal health care law rammed through Congress by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Barack Obama. He then said he would be relying on someone else to tell him what to do regarding the law. The Kingsport Times-News has the story:

"The Democratic nominee, Jackson businessman Mike McWherter, didn’t call for a fight against federal health care reform… McWherter said he would be following current Gov. Phil Bredesen’s advice on the issue.

‘This is his area of expertise,’ McWherter said of Bredesen, a former health maintenance organization operator. ‘I’m going to rely very heavily on his judgment and thought process in that regard.’”

McWherter followed these statements by saying that he believes that the law can be improved and in the end benefit Tennessee. Not surprisingly, his comments drew boos from the crowd of more than 400 at Northeast State Community College. According to the report:

“‘I’m going to work with our congressional delegation to make sure we improve this legislation and make it something that will help … McWherter’s response was greeted with boos and calls to ‘repeal it,’…"

It’s no wonder that Mike McWherter has remained noticeably silent on the issue up to now. It’s because he’s on the wrong side of the health care debate and more than 400 Tennesseans let him know it last night. And he’s not only out-of-touch with Tennesseans, he’s out of touch with the majority of the country who believe Obamacare should be repealed. According to a new Rasmussen poll released yesterday:

“…58% of Likely U.S. Voters favor repeal of the national health care plan adopted into law by Congress in late March… Most voters (50%) continue to believe that the health care plan is bad for America and that it will hurt the quality of care while driving up costs and the budget deficit.”

Mike McWherter was already facing an uphill battle in this election but his climb just got much steeper. The majority of Tennesseans believe that Pelosi/Obama health ‘reform’ is the wrong prescription for this country and this state. They’re looking for a leader that is going to fight tooth and nail to protect Tennessee from Washington Democrats’ government-run disaster. Voters learned last night Mike McWherter is definitely not that leader.
