(Nashville) - On the House floor this week, Representative Mike Bell presented HB 129 which requires a demolisher of motor vehicles to keep records including a VIN number and a copy of the seller’s photo ID to help crack down on stolen cars. However, Representative John Litz presented an amendment to exempt Hamblen County so that this bill would not apply to his brother-in-law who operates a car crusher business in Hamblen County.

(Nashville) - In this week’s House Elections Subcommittee, Rep. Eddie Yokley used his position as chairman to effectively kill three bills aimed at requiring proof of citizenship before voting and requiring photo identification at the voting location. The photo-ID bill had already passed in the Senate with bi-partisan support.
