"Abolish ICE" Gillibrand Comes to Stump for Bredesen in Tennessee

Oct. 5, 2018 -- If Democrats are trying to win in a state that gave President Donald Trump 60 percent of the vote, they certainly are picking odd outside reinforcements to do so.

The Tennessee Democratic Party announced today that they would be hosting Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) for a fundraiser Saturday Oct. 6 - that's right, the same Senator who advocated for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Gillibrand has already donated $5,000 to fellow Democrat Phil Bredesen to join her in the Senate. Bredesen has been under fire in Tennessee for his liberal views on immigration.

"We shouldn't be surprised that Phil Bredesen, the same guy who gave driving certificates to illegal aliens, is now being supported by a radical open-borders Democrat who disparages our law enforcement officers and supports sanctuary cities," said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden. "A vote for Marsha Blackburn will be to secure our southern border and follow the rule of law. A vote for Phil will be to make the extreme Left's wildest immigration dreams come true."

Gillibrand was the first Senator to publicly support the radical idea of abolishing ICE. Here's what she said about ICE earlier this year:

"[T]hat's why I believe you should get rid of it, start over, reimagine it and build something that actually works."

Gillibrand isn't the only Senator supporting abolishing ICE who has also donated to Bredesen. Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has donated $10,000 to Bredesen and wants ICE to "start from scratch."
