Nashville, Tenn. - June 27, 2018 - Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden released the following statement on Phil Bredesen’s rural broadband “idea” that would raise taxes and expand the size of government:
"As governor, Phil Bredesen raised taxes and fees by a billion dollars. He said he would have voted against last year’s historic tax cuts, then he used Nancy Pelosi’s talking point and called them 'crumbs.' So it’s not surprising that his first big ‘idea’ would raise taxes and increase big government, something Tennesseans do not want. Marsha Blackburn has been a leader on rural broadband access for years, and she is working with her colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure all Tennesseans have access to broadband, without raising their taxes or expanding government."
