Oct. 9, 2018 -- On issues Tennesseans care about, Phil Bredesen likes to have it both ways. When it comes to the Second Amendment, Phil likes to say he respects law-abiding gun owners rights, but then turns to vocal gun-control funders like Michael Bloomberg for support.
Just today the Covington Leader reported Phil had this to say recently on gun rights:
Bredesen called himself "conservative" with second amendment issues and said he is a life-long gun owner. ..."I'm not with the Dems on that stuff."
Phil of course neglected to mention that he was headed to New York City for a fundraiser with Bloomberg tonight, who has made no secret of his disdain for gun owners. Bloomberg has also pledged $20 million to elect Democrats like Phil Bredesen so that anti-gun Senators like Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) can take over as Majority Leader and Judiciary chairman, respectively.
"Phil Bredesen says one thing to the people of Tennessee, then turns around and says something completely different to New York's elites," said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden. "Phil's exposing himself for a phony who can't be trusted, plain and simple. He can't have it both ways."
Seems like DNC Chair Tom Perez was right when he said, "there are no moderate Democrats basically left"...
