Oct. 4, 2018 -- Remember when Phil Bredesen was claiming he was a strong supporter of the Second Amendment (only to immediately be called out by the NRA)? That was only two weeks ago.
Now Phil's done a complete about face, and is sucking up to the loudest (and wealthiest) gun-control advocate of them all: New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg.
So why would Bloomberg raise money for Phil unless he knows Phil will be a reliable vote for the Democrats' gun-control agenda?
Bloomberg just announced that he was giving Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer's PAC $20 million - expect millions of that to flow to Bredesen.
"Voters are seeing just how much Phil's word is worth: zilch," said Tennessee Republican Party Chairman Scott Golden. "One minute Phil claims he's a proud gun-owner, then the next he's running up to New York to get money from the nation's most ardent gun-grabber, Michael Bloomberg. Phil clearly cares more about liberal elites' cash than the values Tennesseans hold."
Here's more from CNBC:
Bloomberg's involvement is likely to increase scrutiny on one of the tightest races in the midterm elections, as Bredesen, a former Tennessee governor, aims to flip a Republican-held seat representing a state Donald Trump won easily in 2016.
The event is being billed to financiers as an opportunity to "join Mike Bloomberg for an evening in support of Governor Phil Bredesen" on Oct. 9, according to the invitation. A person who plans to attend the event said Bloomberg will host the fundraiser at his home in Manhattan. ...
The news comes just a day after Bloomberg announced he would be contributing $20 million to the Senate Majority PAC, a group dedicated to electing Democrats to the U.S. Senate and that is affiliated with allies of Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
Looks like Bloomberg, Bredesen, and Schumer are just three peas in a pod.
